Shab-e-Barat is being observed across Pakistan tonight, with Muslims engaging in prayers and religious rituals with deep devotion.
Mosques and homes are hosting night-long worship, during which people offer Nawafil prayers, recite the Holy Quran, and make supplications. Religious scholars say the night is marked by abundant blessings and divine mercy.
According to scholars, while Allah’s mercy is ever-present, certain occasions hold special significance, and Shab-e-Barat is one of them. The night is seen as a time when the doors of repentance are open, offering believers an opportunity to seek forgiveness for their sins.
Ulema highlight the many virtues of the 15th night of Shaban, stating that, by Allah’s command, decisions related to sustenance, life, and death for the coming year are also decreed on this blessed night.
Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology, Allama Raghib Naeemi, said that Shab-e-Barat is also known as Lailat-ul-Mubarakah (the Blessed Night). He cited Hadiths encouraging believers to observe prayers during the night and keep a fast the following day, emphasizing that it is a highly significant night during which deeds are presented before Allah Almighty.
