Night of Forgiveness: Shab-e-Barat commemorated across the country

Shab-e-Barat, a night of devotion, prayer, and divine blessings for Muslims, was observed across Pakistan on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Also known as the Night of Forgiveness, it falls on the night between 14 and 15 Shaa’ban and is believed to be a time when fortunes for the coming year are determined.

Muslims gathered in mosques and homes after Isha prayers to offer special Nawafil prayers that continued until Fajr, praying for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of the nation, as well as for the protection of oppressed Palestinians and Kashmiris.

Religious scholars highlighted the true teachings of Islam during sermons, while Mahafil-e-Naat and other gatherings were held to mark the occasion. Streets, homes, and mosques were decorated with colourful lights, pennants, and buntings, and special security arrangements were put in place to ensure the peaceful observance of Shab-e-Barat nationwide.
