Shafaqna Pakistan: Police restored calm after clashes erupted between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Awami National Party (ANP) supporters in Bara Bazar, Khyber district, on Thursday.
The confrontation reportedly began when a group of PTI supporters entered an ANP public rally. PTI workers started chanting slogans against the ANP, sparking a verbal exchange that soon escalated into a physical altercation.
The situation further deteriorated when aerial firing was reported amid the sloganeering, creating panic among the attendees.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a heavy police contingent reached the scene and took action to bring the situation under control. Authorities dispersed participants of the rally, after which law and order were restored in the area.
Police officials said an investigation is underway and legal action will be taken against those found involved. Security in the area has been heightened to prevent any further untoward incidents.
