UAE ad hoc flights decrease while Air India operates 30 West Asia routes

Shafaqna Pakistan: Air India Group will operate 30 scheduled and non-scheduled flights to and from West Asia on Monday, reflecting a further scaling back of operations, while IndiGo will maintain select services as airlines navigate volatile conditions in the region.

Of the 30 flights, 10 are non-scheduled services to and from the United Arab Emirates, representing a further reduction in ad hoc operations compared to previous days. These flights will operate subject to slot availability and regulatory approvals from Indian and UAE authorities.

Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah will continue to be served through ad hoc flights. Air India will operate a Delhi-Dubai service, while Air India Express will connect Mangalore to Dubai. Abu Dhabi will see limited Air India Express flights from Delhi, and Sharjah will be linked to Amritsar and Kannur.

Ras Al Khaimah, which had remained non-operational in recent days, has reopened for ad hoc flights, though no specific sectors have been announced. Al Ain continues to have no services.

In Oman, scheduled flights on the Muscat route will continue, with Air India Express operating from Delhi, Kannur, Mumbai, and Thiruvananthapuram. Services to Salalah remain suspended.

In Saudi Arabia, partial operations continue: Air India runs scheduled flights to Jeddah from Delhi and Mumbai, while Air India Express connects Bengaluru, Kozhikode, and Mangalore. Riyadh will have a scheduled Air India flight from Delhi, while Dammam remains off the network.

Flights to Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait, and Tel Aviv continue to be suspended.

Air India said its long-haul services to North America, Europe and Australia remain unaffected and will operate as per schedule, indicating disruptions are confined to West Asia routes.

Passengers affected by cancellations have been offered free rebooking or full refunds. Air India Express has also allowed UAE-bound passengers to shift to alternative flights within its network without additional charges. The airline group said it is proactively reaching out to affected passengers through registered contact details to facilitate rebooking.

It said that efforts are under way to explore additional ad hoc flights depending on approvals.

IndiGo, meanwhile, said it will operate select flights to and from the Middle East on April 6, with schedules being reviewed regularly in coordination with authorities.

Passengers have been advised to check flight status before heading to the airport and ensure their contact details are updated to receive timely notifications, as airlines continue to rely on dynamic scheduling amid ongoing uncertainty in West Asia airspace.
