Shafaqna Pakistan: Consumers in Pakistan are set to see higher electricity bills after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved an increase of Rs1.42 per unit.
The NEPRA notification stated that the hike is linked to the February monthly fuel cost adjustment (FCA) and will appear in April electricity bills.
Sources indicated that the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested an increase of Rs1.62 per unit. Following reviews and hearings, NEPRA approved Rs1.42 per unit.
Earlier in January, electricity rates were raised by Rs1.63 per unit under the fuel adjustment mechanism.
