Regional peace possible only through diplomacy, says Bilawal Bhutto

Shafaqna Pakistan: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that war is not a solution to regional tensions, stressing that diplomacy remains the only viable path to peace and to easing friction between Iran and the United States.

In an interview with a British broadcaster, he noted that enforcing a ceasefire anywhere in the world is never easy, adding that maintaining and extending it is a collective responsibility of all parties. He emphasised that sustained dialogue and diplomatic engagement are essential for resolving conflicts.

He also pointed out that disruptions in oil supplies are contributing to global inflation, saying Islamabad remains in contact with all sides and is working to promote confidence-building measures. He described developments such as the return of Iranian personnel as positive steps in the diplomatic process.

Bilawal further said recent attacks were condemnable and could undermine peace efforts, warning that aggression by any side weakens ceasefire arrangements. He added that some actions by Iran have contributed to rising regional tensions.

Criticising Washington’s “Operation Freedom” policy, Bilawal said military force is not a solution and warned that increased military activity in the Strait of Hormuz could further complicate the situation. He expressed hope that diplomatic progress between Iran and the United States would be seen soon.
