US-Iran agreement expected soon, says FO spokesperson

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed optimism regarding a possible agreement between the United States and Iran.

During a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said that while details of the message exchanges between the two sides could not yet be disclosed, Pakistan remains hopeful for a positive outcome.

He added that it is still unclear whether the proposed agreement will take the form of a brief document or a more comprehensive arrangement.

Andrabi also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its natural resources, stating that “not a single drop of Pakistan’s water can be taken illegally.” He noted that all options regarding the Indus Waters Treaty remain under consideration.

The Foreign Office highlighted that the international community continued to monitor peace and security in South Asia. Pakistani authorities, including the Indus Water Commissioner, are closely observing river conditions to ensure effective management of water resources.

The briefing coincided with the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, during which Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar had earlier briefed the officials.
