Shafaqna Pakistan: US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard announced her resignation on Friday, bringing an end to her tenure amid reported differences with US President Donald Trump, particularly over the Iran conflict.
In a letter posted on X and addressed to President Trump, Gabbard stated that she would step down from her position as Director of National Intelligence to focus on her family after her husband was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
“Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30,” she wrote, noting her role involved coordinating global intelligence assessments presented to President Trump.
She further explained that her husband, Abraham, has been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer and will face significant medical challenges in the coming months.
“At this time, I must step away from public service to be by his side and fully support him through this battle.”
Trump hailed Gabbard — one of the few women left in the Republican’s cabinet — following the announcement.
“Tulsi has done an incredible job, and we will miss her,” Trump said on his Truth Social network, adding that she “rightfully” wanted to help her husband with his cancer battle.
