75,000 Palestinians Perform Friday Prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque on 22 May 2026

Shafaqna Pakistan:  Around 75,000 Palestinians offered Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque despite heightened restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities.

In a statement, the Jerusalem Governorate said tens of thousands of worshippers began arriving at the mosque compound from the early morning hours, while Israeli forces implemented strict security measures around the site and deployed heavily at the gates of Al-Aqsa and across the Old City of Jerusalem.

According to the statement, Israeli forces also prevented several worshippers and guardians of the holy site from performing Friday prayers along Al-Mujahideen Road, redirecting them toward the Bab al-Asbat area.

Israeli authorities continue to restrict thousands of Palestinians from the occupied West Bank from entering Occupied Jerusalem to pray at Al-Aqsa Mosque, requiring special permits to pass through military checkpoints surrounding the holy city.
