Shafaqna Pakistan: The Kiswah, the sacred covering of the Holy Kaaba, is set to be replaced on the 1st of Muharram this year, continuing the annual tradition observed at the beginning of the Islamic New Year.
A ceremony was held on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, during which the new Kiswah was formally handed over to the official responsible for the upkeep of the Holy Kaaba.
As per established tradition, the Kiswah is replaced at the start of the Hijri year on 1st Muharram, with a special and spiritually significant ceremony planned to mark the installation of the new covering.
The Kiswah, which adorns the Holy Kaaba, is crafted using hundreds of kilograms of silk along with silver and gold-plated threads. The intricate manufacturing process reflects its deep religious significance and the reverence associated with one of Islam’s most sacred symbols.
