Shafaqna Pakistan: Australia beat Pakistan by 41 runs in the second ODI at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday, levelling the three-match series 1-1 after successfully defending a total of 232.
Chasing 232, Pakistan were dismissed for 190 in 44.1 overs despite a fighting 71 from Shadab Khan. The innings got off to a disastrous start as the hosts lost five wickets for just 41 runs, with key batters including Babar Azam (16), Salman Ali Agha (7), and Abdul Samad (2) falling early. Ghazi Ghori scored 37, while Arafat Minhas made 33 in a vital 59-run stand with Shadab.
For Australia, Nathan Ellis starred with the ball, taking 4-33, while Matthew Short picked up three wickets. Adam Zampa, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Tanveer Sangha chipped in with one wicket apiece.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi’s decision to bowl first restricted Australia to 231-9 in 50 overs. Josh Inglis scored 51 and Cameron Green top-scored with 53, helping the visitors recover from early setbacks. Oliver Peake added a valuable 31 late in the innings.
Shaheen starred with the ball for Pakistan, taking 3-36, while Abrar Ahmed, Arafat Minhas, and Haris Rauf claimed two wickets apiece.
The series is now evenly poised at 1-1 heading into the decisive third ODI.
