17 Militants Killed as Security Forces Step Up Balochistan Operations

Shafaqna Pakistan: Following the train incident on 24 May 2026, Pakistan’s security forces launched a series of intelligence-based operations across multiple districts of Balochistan, stepping up counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

The coordinated operations were conducted in Mastung, Nushki, Zehri, Khuzdar, and Kech, targeting suspected militant hideouts linked to ongoing security threats.

Security sources said troops engaged several terrorist positions during the raids. In intense exchanges of fire, 17 militants affiliated with what officials referred to as Fitna-al-Hindustan were killed. Authorities described the outcome as a major blow to militant networks operating in the area.

The operations were carried out on the basis of actionable intelligence, allowing forces to simultaneously strike multiple targets. The objective was to dismantle the operational capacity of groups believed to be involved in planning and carrying out attacks in the province.

Following the clearance of the targeted locations, security forces recovered a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives. Authorities also seized a number of prepared improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which were reportedly intended for future attacks in the region.

The recovered material is being analysed as part of ongoing investigations aimed at mapping wider terror networks and their logistical support structures.

Sanitisation operations are continuing in the affected districts to ensure complete elimination of any remaining threats. Security officials confirmed that the counter-terrorism campaign under the national vision “Azm e Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, remains in full force.

Authorities reiterated that operations against foreign-supported and internally assisted militant elements will continue with sustained momentum, as part of broader efforts to stabilise security across Balochistan and other sensitive regions.
