High-Level Pakistani Delegation Set for St Petersburg Forum

Shafaqna Pakistan: A high-level Pakistani delegation is set to attend the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2026, one of Russia’s most prominent economic forums, which begins on Wednesday in the historic city of Saint Petersburg.

The four-day event, running from 3 to 6 June, is expected to bring together government officials, business leaders, investors, and economic policymakers from more than 130 countries to discuss global economic challenges and emerging opportunities.

Pakistan’s delegation will be headed by Ali Pervaiz Malik and will include Haroon Akhtar, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, senior diplomatic officials, and representatives from Pakistan’s trade and investment sectors.

The forum’s agenda includes discussions on global trade, energy security, investment, digital technology, artificial intelligence, industrial development, transport infrastructure, food security, and international economic cooperation.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to address the forum’s main plenary session, alongside participation from ministers, investors, corporate executives and representatives of international organisations from around the world.

Pakistan’s participation is being viewed as an important opportunity to strengthen economic and trade relations between Islamabad and Moscow. Officials are expected to hold meetings with Russian authorities, investors and business representatives to explore greater cooperation in energy, petroleum, industry, trade and investment.

Observers note that Pakistan is currently focusing on attracting foreign investment into sectors including energy, minerals, infrastructure and manufacturing, while simultaneously seeking new avenues for economic cooperation with Russia.

Analysts believe participation in such international forums offers Pakistan direct access not only to Russian stakeholders but also to investors and businesses from multiple countries, potentially supporting investment growth, export expansion and broader economic partnerships.

This year’s forum theme, “Practical Dialogue: Towards a Sustainable Future”, will focus on addressing global economic uncertainties while exploring future growth opportunities.
