Shafaqna Pakistan: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has dismissed reports claiming that the government intends to increase the minimum voting age to 25 years.
Speaking exclusively to Dunya News, Attaullah Tarar said there was no truth to rumours suggesting that the proposed 28th Constitutional Amendment contained any provision related to changing the voting age.
He urged the public not to pay attention to baseless speculation, emphasizing that reacting to unverified claims only contributes to the spread of misinformation.
Commenting on political developments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the information minister criticised the recent expansion of the provincial cabinet.
He questioned the rationale and performance of the enlarged cabinet, noting that the number of ministers had now increased to 31 and raising concerns about its effectiveness and necessity.
“Where is good governance and what performance has the provincial government delivered?” Tarar asked.
He said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had ruled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for 12 years but had failed to introduce meaningful reforms or improve law and order in the province.
The minister added that the provincial government should focus on governance instead of expanding the cabinet.
Tarar further said the public should know what role the newly appointed provincial ministers had played in public service.
He reiterated that rumours regarding the proposed 28th amendment should be ignored and stressed the need to focus on governance, the economy and national development issues.
