Shafaqna Pakistan: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Saturday said that Pakistan’s economy is moving in the right direction and that the government is now focused on transitioning “from stability to growth.”
Speaking at a post-budget press conference, alongside Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, Aurangzeb outlined the government’s economic priorities for the coming fiscal year.
He said the federal budget for 2026–27 incorporates key measures aimed at accelerating economic growth and laying the foundation for an export-oriented economy.
The finance minister added that the government has undertaken broad-based efforts to create a more supportive environment for exporters and enhance the country’s overall competitiveness in international markets.
He highlighted the abolition of an advance tax as part of reforms aimed at facilitating businesses. The finance minister also described the removal of super tax for companies earning above Rs500 million as a meaningful policy reform.
A day earlier, Aurangzeb presented the federal budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 in the National Assembly, with a total outlay of Rs18,771 billion. Presenting the budget, he said it was a matter of great honour for him to lay the federal budget before the House for the upcoming financial year.
Interest payments on debt have been allocated Rs8,054 billion, while Rs1,169 billion has been earmarked for pensions.
