Trump Says Military Action Remains an Option if Iran Deal Fails

Shafaqna Pakistan: US President Donald Trump stated that the memorandum of understanding reached with Iran does not constitute a final agreement, cautioning that the United States could launch further military strikes against Iran if the eventual deal fails to meet Washington’s expectations.

Speaking to reporters during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Trump stressed that American companies would not be permitted to invest in Iran.

He added that the completion of a comprehensive agreement with Tehran would lead to the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

At the same time, Trump reiterated that the United States would never allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons under any circumstances.

According to the US president, the progress made in negotiations with Iran has positively influenced global financial markets, helping to lift stock prices while contributing to lower oil prices.

According to Trump, without this understanding, the entire world would have faced severe economic pressure.

Rejecting reports about a $300 billion fund related to Iran as baseless, Trump said that the United States was not investing in Iran.

He also noted that discussions had been held with the Syrian leadership regarding efforts to address Hezbollah.

The US president further stated that the memorandum of understanding with Iran does not include immediate sanctions relief.

On the occasion, Egyptian president congratulated Trump on the progress made toward achieving peace in the Middle East and said he was looking forward to a final agreement with Iran.
