Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation to discuss the evolving regional situation, underscoring the importance of restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts to preserve peace and stability.
During the call, the prime minister urged Iran and all concerned parties to avoid actions that could undermine recent diplomatic progress and stressed the need to implement the commitments outlined in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and stability, Shehbaz Sharif pledged Islamabad’s continued constructive engagement in support of dialogue and de-escalation.
President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan’s leadership for attending the funeral of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and expressed appreciation for Islamabad’s diplomatic support during the recent regional developments.
Both leaders agreed to accelerate bilateral cooperation and remain in close contact on regional issues.
