Shafaqna Pakistan: Pakistan has intensified its crackdown on undocumented Afghan nationals after the July 10 deadline for legalising their stay in the country expired.
Following the deadline, the federal government ordered authorities to speed up the deportation process and directed law enforcement agencies to immediately detain any Afghan national found living in Pakistan without a valid visa.
Officials have also been instructed to submit daily enforcement reports to the Ministry of Interior, detailing the number of undocumented Afghan nationals detained, the action taken against them, and their current legal status.
The intensified enforcement follows a letter issued by the Ministry of Interior on June 28, 2026, to the chief secretaries of all four provinces, as well as the chief secretaries of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, directing them to implement the government’s decisions.
The ministry also instructed all deputy commissioners, police authorities and other law enforcement agencies to take the necessary measures to enforce the directives.
