Shafaqna Pakistan: The central leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday held a consultative meeting to review preparations for former prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and the party’s election campaign.
The meeting decided that Nawaz Sharif, who also serves as the party president, will address two major public rallies in Muzaffarabad and Mirpur during his visit. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is also expected to accompany him at both events.
Party leaders reviewed campaign preparations, organisational coordination, arrangements for the public gatherings and the party’s overall election strategy.
The leadership directed party workers to step up the campaign through an extensive door-to-door outreach drive and mobilise supporters across the region ahead of the elections.
Addressing the meeting, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam said the PML-N would run a vigorous election campaign in the AJK, adding that resolving public issues and ensuring the region’s development and prosperity remained the party’s foremost priorities.
He said the PML-N government had completed several major development projects in the AJK and noted that the prime minister had announced the establishment of Daanish Schools in the territory without any formal request from the AJK government.
Muqam stressed the importance of holding timely, free and transparent elections, describing them as the most effective way of addressing the people’s problems. He said the PML-N leadership had a longstanding commitment to the people of Kashmir and had always stood by them during difficult times.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants expressed confidence that the party would secure victory in the July 27, 2026 AJK general elections on the strength of its record of public service, development agenda and governance performance.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah, Muqam, PML-N AJK President Ghulam Qadir, Raja Farooq Haider, Captain (Retd) Muhammad Safdar and other leaders.
