War on terror that started a decade ago has engulfed more than 55,000 Pakistanis and 6000 personnel of law enforcement agencies. It has destroyed Pakistan’s economy as the investors are afraid to invest in Pakistan. Business activities remain low due to terrorism.
The terrorist groups spared no one, whether it were imambargahs, Mosques, schools, air bases, naval bases, police headquarters or army headquarters. In 2009 Government launched operation Rah.e.Rast to get rid of militancy but to no avail. After that PPP also tried its level best to bring militants on negotiation table but failed. Before 1980s, sacrilege of or targeting mosque or Imambargah was unheard of in Pakistan, but for the last three decades attacks in FATA, Hangu, Quetta, Lahore, Charsadda, Peshawar, Dir and Jamrud were reflective of bestial traits of the terrorists.
However ongoing operation has pushed the militants to the wall. The air strikes and ground advancement of Pakistani troops has almost dismantled terrorist’s network. The operation is progressing successfully and General Raheel Sharif has vowed to get rid of terrorists. However being a nation it is also responsibility of Pakistani nation to point out such elements that are either providing logistic support to militant or even verbally trying to divert attention of a layman by spreading false ideological notions.
