hafaqna Pakistan- A fast-moving wildfire swept through towns near Fréjus on France’s Mediterranean coast on Sunday, threatening homes and forcing the evacuation of several hamlets, local authorities said.
Officials said strong winds and prolonged drought fuelled the rapid spread of the blaze, highlighting the growing intensity of wildfires across the Mediterranean region.
Local prefect Simon Babre told BFM TV that the fire’s exceptional speed was driven by a combination of record-breaking heat and severe drought, which had left vegetation extremely dry and made firefighting efforts significantly more difficult.
