Shafaqna Pakistan: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has released its latest assessment of the damage caused by ongoing monsoon rains across Pakistan, reporting additional casualties and extensive destruction nationwide.
According to the NDMA, nine people were killed and 54 others injured in rain-related incidents during the past 24 hours.
The authority said that from June 26 to July 23, the monsoon season claimed 81 lives and left 241 people injured across the country.
The death toll includes 35 children, 27 men and 19 women, underscoring the heavy human cost of the persistent rains.
Provincial figures show Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number of fatalities with 47 deaths, followed by Punjab with 21, Azad Jammu and Kashmir with seven, and Balochistan with six.
In terms of injuries, Punjab reported 154 injured people, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 70, Balochistan with 15, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir with two.
The NDMA further reported significant damage to infrastructure and livelihoods. Since the start of the monsoon season, 387 houses have been damaged, 207 livestock animals have perished, and approximately 6.7 kilometres of roads have been affected by flooding and heavy rainfall.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable and low-lying areas to remain alert, follow official weather advisories, and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rainfall as monsoon conditions continue.
