Shafaqna Pakistan: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) extended its gains on Tuesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index continuing its upward momentum following a strong rebound in the previous trading session.
During trading, the KSE-100 Index rose by 334.22 points, or 0.19%, to 178,596.55 points. The benchmark touched an intraday high of 179,123.00 points and a low of 177,914.38 points.
Market activity remained healthy, with a trading volume of 67.64 million shares and a traded value of Rs4.73 billion.
The positive performance followed Monday’s sharp recovery, when the benchmark index surged by 7,241.13 points, or 4.23%, to close at 178,262.34 points, up from the previous close of 171,021.20 points.
The strong performance in the previous session was supported by broad-based buying across major sectors, reflecting improved investor sentiment.
Trading activity also increased, with the ready market witnessing a volume of 1.032 billion shares worth Rs41.020 billion, compared with 579.945 million shares valued at Rs23.896 billion in the previous session.
The market capitalization rose to Rs20.021 trillion from Rs19.278 trillion a day earlier.
Out of 496 companies traded in the ready market, 409 companies recorded gains, 63 reported losses, and 24 remained unchanged, indicating widespread positive participation among investors.
