Shafaqna Pakistan: The Embassy of Pakistan in Moscow hosted a reception to mark Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day, drawing around 250 guests, including senior Russian government officials, diplomats, academics, media representatives and members of the Pakistani community.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin attended the event as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi welcomed the rapid expansion of bilateral ties between Pakistan and Russia.
He said the two countries had significant opportunities to broaden cooperation in areas including trade, regional connectivity, education, tourism and culture.
The ambassador also highlighted Pakistan’s interest in the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), including the potential for connecting the corridor with Pakistan’s ports at Karachi and Gwadar.
He stressed the need to further strengthen people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
In his remarks, Deputy Foreign Minister Galuzin conveyed congratulations to the people of Pakistan on behalf of the Russian government and people.
He praised Pakistan’s role in regional and global affairs, particularly highlighting Islamabad’s mediation efforts during the recent Gulf crisis and Pakistan’s contributions to the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
Galuzin said cooperation between Russia and Pakistan was continuing to expand across a range of sectors, including trade, regional connectivity, industry, pharmaceuticals and education.
A major highlight of the reception was a vibrant presentation of Pakistani culture and music.
Internationally acclaimed Pakistani folk band Khumariyaan entertained guests with a performance, while Pride of Performance award-winning violinist Master Raees Khan also showcased his musical talent.
Russian officials, foreign diplomats and other guests enjoyed Pakistani music and traditional cuisine during the reception.
The event showcased the richness of Pakistani culture and served as a reflection of the growing friendly relations between Pakistan and Russia.
