Shafaqna Pakistan: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik to travel to Karachi immediately and negotiate with oil refineries to reduce the price of locally produced diesel and provide relief to consumers.
The directive was issued during a meeting between the prime minister and the petroleum minister, which was also attended by Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Climate Change Minister Dr Musadik Malik and MNA Hamza Shehbaz, according to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
The PMO said Shehbaz instructed the petroleum minister to take all necessary measures to bring down locally produced diesel prices through negotiations with refineries.
“Most of the diesel is produced locally by oil refineries. The petroleum minister should personally complete negotiations with the refineries at the earliest to secure a reduction in prices,” according to PMO.
It added that PM directed that maximum possible immediate relief should be provided to the people.
