Shafaqna Pakistan: US President Donald Trump has ruled out the use of nuclear weapons against Iran, saying there is no justification for deploying them amid the ongoing conflict.
Speaking to reporters during an event at the Oval Office, Trump was asked whether he could guarantee that Washington would not use nuclear weapons against Tehran. Although he criticised the question, he ultimately rejected the prospect of such an attack.
“I would never say that, but the answer is yes,” Trump said, adding that there was “no reason” for the United States to use nuclear weapons.
Trump described the question as “stupid” and argued that Iran had already been defeated militarily. He questioned why Washington would consider using nuclear weapons after, in his view, having already achieved its objectives through conventional military action.
Trump also accused Iran of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, claiming that more than 100,000 people opposed to the Iranian government had been killed. The allegations come amid heightened tensions and continued military confrontation between Washington and Tehran.
Earlier, Trump had threatened a strong US response following attacks on a military base in Jordan that Washington attributed to Iran. In an interview with Fox News, Trump said the United States would respond forcefully to Iranian attacks in Jordan.
The comments come as concerns over further escalation in the region remain high, with the possibility of direct confrontation between the United States and Iran continuing to draw international attention.
