SHAFAQNA PAKISTAN (Shia News Agency)
Punjab Government is famous for its infrastructure development. One may find a network of Roads, bridges and flyovers across Punjab during PML-N rule. After Metro in Punjab’s Metropolitan cities now PM has announced Motorway from Lahore to Karachi. Now Punjab Chief Minister has announced another program name “Khadim-e-Punjab Rural roads Programme” for the construction and rehabilitation of roads in rural areas of the province. Under the phased wise programme, a total of Rs 150 billion would be spent on roads construction and rehabilitation over a period of three years.
It is a good step because it will connect the huge population that lacks basic infrastructure. With connecting to other cities, it also helps such villages and rural areas to have improved economic activities, better access to education in nearby cities and better health facilities in suburbs areas. One thing that is most important and must be done on prior basis is that Provincial Highways authority must also be hold responsible for the depletion of already existing infrastructure. No doubt it is the iggest programme of construction and rehabilitation of rural roads in the history of the country but we would urge the Chief Minister to seek details from every district and work be started on rural roads where the black top has almost disappeared.
Khadam-e-Punjab should also consider the consultation with local population before kicking off this program. It would help to better understand that which way facilitates them. The important aspect of this program is that CM himself should oversee the progress and quality of work because in Pakistan quality of infrastructure is so poor that within a month of construction these roads get dilapidated and break into pieces.
