Shafaqna Pakistan: Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has resigned from the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) selection committee, reportedly after expressing strong reservations over the board’s handling of player selection.
Sources said Misbah stepped down following disagreements over the selection of new players for Pakistan’s Test series against England.
According to the sources, the PCB sent six players to England without consulting the selection committee, a decision that reportedly angered Misbah and deepened his concerns over the board’s approach to selection matters.
The former captain was unhappy that the selection committee was not taken into confidence before decisions were made regarding the players being sent to England.
His resignation is being viewed as a consequence of growing differences over the selection process and the lack of consultation between the PCB and members of the selection committee.
Misbah, one of Pakistan’s most prominent Test captains and former players, had been serving as a member of the national selection committee.
The latest development comes as the PCB prepares for Pakistan’s upcoming international commitments, with the selection and management of the national squad remaining a key area of focus for the board.
