Shafaqna Pakistan: UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and US President Donald Trump held a telephone call to discuss bilateral ties and the latest developments in the Middle East.
According to media reports, the two leaders reviewed ways to further strengthen cooperation between the UAE and the United States in areas of mutual interest.
They also discussed the rapidly evolving situation in the region and ongoing efforts to address escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The conversation came amid heightened regional tensions following recent military exchanges between the United States and Iran.
Reports have emerged of Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting US facilities in the region following American strikes, while Gulf states have also increased their air-defence readiness.
Tensions between Washington and Tehran have also raised concerns over security in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf, with growing fears about potential disruptions to global energy supplies and their impact on oil prices.
Earlier, Iran’s military claimed that it had targeted US military assets at Kuwait’s Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base.
The reported targets included a US satellite communications system, equipment warehouses and aircraft hangars.
