Shafaqna Pakistan: More than 171 million students worldwide — about one in 10 from pre-primary to upper-secondary age — had their education disrupted by climate-related hazards in 2025, according to a new UNICEF report released on Wednesday.
Storms were the most common cause of disruption, affecting 109 million students, followed by floods and heatwaves.
The climate-related events resulted in school closures, damage to educational facilities, a shift to remote learning, reduced instructional time and lower attendance, while increasing the risk of millions of students dropping out.
