Shafaqna Pakistan: Iran’s UN envoy Gholamhossein Darzi has rejected a planned Security Council meeting on Tehran’s nuclear programme, calling it an abuse of the council’s authority.
In a letter to France’s UN representative, Darzi dismissed the latest allegations against Iran’s nuclear activities as politically driven and based on “unfounded” claims rather than technical concerns.
He also criticised a non-consensus resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors on September 9.
According to Darzi, the resolution was politically driven by the United States and the E3 countries — Britain, France and Germany — and failed to meet the principles of objectivity and impartiality.
He maintained that the renewed focus on Iran’s nuclear programme was part of a politically motivated process rather than a technical assessment.
