Shafaqna Pakistan: Algeria has barred Emirati aircraft from entering or passing through its airspace, further deepening tensions between Algiers and the United Arab Emirates.
Under the new restrictions, UAE-operated aircraft will not be allowed to use Algerian airspace either as a destination or as a transit corridor.
The measure does not apply to certain commercial routes linking Algeria with Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which will continue to operate.
Algeria’s Defence Ministry said commercial airlines from the UAE have been granted temporary clearance to fly through Algerian airspace until the end of the year.
The temporary arrangement will also allow Emirati commercial flights to continue operating at Algiers International Airport through the end of the year, according to officials.
The restrictions come days after Algeria announced that it was severing diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, further deepening the dispute between the two countries.
The latest measures are expected to have an impact on air connectivity between Algeria and the UAE, although commercial links will remain partially operational under the temporary exemptions.
The developments underscore the growing strain in bilateral relations, with both sides facing heightened diplomatic tensions following Algeria’s decision to cut ties with Abu Dhabi.
