Shafaqna Pakistan: Thousands of Palestinians gathered at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem to perform Friday prayers despite tight Israeli restrictions around the holy site.
Worshipers began arriving early in the morning from different parts of the city as Israeli police increased security measures at entrances to the Old City and around the mosque compound.
Israeli police also entered the Al-Aqsa compound shortly before the Friday prayer. Israeli forces set up checkpoints and subjected Palestinians to searches and identification checks, restricting access to the holy site and preventing some worshipers from reaching the mosque.
