Shafaqna Pakistan: The federal government has raised the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs4.10 and Rs6.41 per litre, respectively, under the newly introduced daily fuel pricing mechanism.
According to a Petroleum Division notification, the revised rates will come into effect from September 16, taking the price of petrol to Rs384.34 per litre and HSD to Rs415.83 per litre.
The latest increase comes as international oil markets remain volatile, with renewed tensions in the Middle East continuing to disrupt global energy flows.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has also started publishing daily petroleum prices on its website as part of efforts to improve transparency and enable international oil price movements to be reflected more quickly in domestic rates.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the daily prices are calculated using a seven-day average of international market prices, in line with international practice.
The government previously followed a fortnightly pricing cycle before moving to weekly reviews after the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
