Shafaqna Pakistan- Tasneem Institute presented: What happened to Fatima (SA)? (Part 1/8), by Sh. Azhar Nasser
What Happened to Fatima (SA)? is an eight-part lecture series examining one of the most consequential and contested chapters in early Islamic history: the events surrounding Faṭima al-Zahra (SA), the beloved daughter of the Prophet Muḥammad (PBUH), in the months following his death.
Drawing upon early historical accounts, ḥadīth literature, and both Sunni and Shia sources, the series carefully reconstructs the political and social developments that unfolded after the Prophet’s passing. It explores the dispute over Fadak, Faṭima’s celebrated sermon, her relationship with the emerging political leadership, reports concerning the confrontation at her home, her final illness, and the circumstances surrounding her death and secret burial.
Rather than treating these events in isolation, the series places them within the wider struggle over authority, succession, and the legacy of the Prophet (PBUH). Particular attention is given to evaluating conflicting reports, distinguishing early testimony from later developments, and allowing the primary sources to illuminate what can—and cannot—be established historically.
At the heart of the series is a simple but difficult question: What happened to Faṭima (SA), the daughter of the Prophet?
Across eight episodes, Shaykh Azhar Nasser investigates the evidence and explores why the answer continues to shape Muslim understandings of the earliest period of Islamic history.
