PML-N’s democratic Government is once again in the eye of storm. From 14th of August to date Pakistan Tehrik.e.Insaf’s Chairman Imran Khan has launched a campaign to oust incumbent PML-N Government. The slogan “Go Nawaz Go” has taken a popular shape not only in Pakistan but across the world. Dr. Tahir ul Qadri chairman Pakistan Awami Tehreek and Pakistan Muslim League ( Q) are also hell bent to dislodge PML-N Government. Despite several rounds of talks Government has failed to break this logjam and after a short interval PTI chief has once against announced new assaults on Government.
The question is will the tumbling boat of the Government can survive this political upheaval?
Presently it seems that PML-N cannot be dethroned because of two major factors.
As change in Pakistan, dethroning and ouster are mostly prompted by the international powers namely US and currently there is no such indicator. Few months back a top PPP leader publically commented that there will be no disruption in the way of democracy for consecutive fifteen years, guaranteed by US.
Second most important factor is Military backing. COAS Raheel Sharif like his predecessor General Ishfaq Pervez Kiani seems a pro-democrat and despite strenuous situation a couple of month ago, he did not jump into fray and did not try to overthrow PML-N Government.
Apart from this all the political powers Pakistan People’s Party, JUI-F, JUI, ANP and others are resisting against change in the charge of the country. Thus currently it appears that PML-N government is going nowhere. Recent protests seem an attempt by the Pakistan military to keep pressure on PML-N government in order to pursue it to follow military’s policy on India and Pakistan’s tribal areas.
Thus any rumors or prediction about change in the Government seem quite faulty.
