After lifting death moratorium the two death sentences have become most controversial issue in Pakistan. Shafqat Hussain and Saulat Mirza. Saulat Mirza was about to be hanged on March 19, when a video statement of his came in the lime light, wherein he alleged that he committed crimes on the directions of Altaf Hussain MQM chief and was facilitated by Ishrat ul Abad, Governor of Sindh. These are serious allegations, and cannot be ignored. MQM has vehemently reacted to his statement and its nature and timing. Leaving aside the objections of MQM and technicalities involved, a probe should be made and thorough investigation should be conducted find the truth and veracity of his statement.
This should be expedited in the best interest of the parties and the nation. Justice not only be done, but appear to be done to justify the ends of Justice. A state without Law and Justice has no right to exist. Moreover, everybody is watching, and the Anti terrorist Court has again issued Black Warrant for the execution of Saulat Mirza, to be held on April 1. This should satisfy the curious critics. The other man to be executed was Shafqat Hussain the convicted murderer of a 7year old boy. The HRCP and other human rights organizations raised objections on this conviction. His age at the time of commission of crime became the issue, and these organization contended that he was barely thirteen not 23 at that time. Well, Govt needs to investigate this matter as a human life is at stake. Though the general public has reservations about this age matter, as this issue was never raised in the last 20 years or any other time. But for the Justice ‘s sake, nation can wait for a few more days till the issue is resolved to the satisfaction of the parties. And it is hoped that justice will be served on both the cases.
