The better sense prevailed and Pakistan has decided to stay away from Saudia’s proxy war in Yemen. It seems that Pakistan has learned a lot from its past follies. It would be quite better for Pakistan to become a bridge between Saudia and Iran and bring them close so that the animosity between both could come to an end and Muslim Ummah could stand united against the conspiracy hatched by Non-Muslims. The long string of negotiations between Islamabad and Riyadh is beginning to become public. First it was Syria. But soon enough it was clear that Pakistan was unable to honour the Saudi request of training and arming Syrian rebels, even if Nawaz Sharif was in power. And now it’s Yemen. Sana’a comes after enhanced Iranian influence in Iraq and Syria. In the latter, especially, it also meant undoing Saudi sponsored rebel advances of more than two and a half years. That is why Riyadh is so worried about developments in Yemen. And that, of course, is why it is counting on all the help it can get, especially from trusted, and militarily advanced, friends in Pakistan.
But the cost of joining Saudi bandwagon would be indeed too high for Pakistan as it cannot risk its ties with Iran. Furthermore the proxy war between both the countries have engulfed hundreds of thousands lives in Syria and now they are ready to play a game of bloodshed in Yemen. Rather than keeping mum Pakistan should play its role in stopping both the countries because those who are dying in Yemen are ultimately Muslims. It would serve the Western cause and weaken Muslim Ummah. Thus Pakistan should take an immediate step to stop this game of blood spilling.
