The sacrilegious publications in Charlie Hebdo and earlier in Julianne Postan have left an unforgettable impression on Muslims that how West sees Mulsims and how true their claims about peace and harmony are? It created a sense of humiliation across the Muslim World. The sacrilegious caricatures were an open expression of what their society does in daily routine to Muslims. There is rampant racism and hatred against Muslims in the West. Infact the only difference between negroes and Muslims has left that in the veil of civilization, they do not openly write outside shops, clubs or hotels that “ Dogs are allowed but no Muslims”. In Western countries when a Muslim goes to a party, they look at his beard and say, ‘Oh, when are you going to Syria to join the jihad?’When a Muslims goes to hotel people stare that as he is going to explode a bomb. Charlie Hebdo and Julianne Postan is part of that too.” This means: “Those stronger than us are mocking us. We have high unemployment, high poverty. Religion is all we have left. And, yes, we have a hard time laughing about it.” Many young Muslims in Europe suffer from a deep sense of alienation leading them to cling to their religious identity and group think because it gives them a sense of belonging, like us and them – a binary way of looking at things. And this is quite dangerous because it is increasingly reflected in the way many Muslims look at things even when opposed to terrorist violence.
Definitely every Muslim is not a terrorist and opposes terrorism vehemently but West has failed to discriminate those who are true and peace loving Muslims and those who in the veil of Islam are defaming Islam. If West continues its approach and allows Charlie Hebdo and Julianne Postan type pseudo-journalism soon every Muslim will be a terrorist.
