Pervaiz terms Imran’s appearance before election tribunal a positive sign

SHAFAQNA PAKISTAN (Shia News Agency) – ISLAMABAD – Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid on Thursday welcomed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s decision of shunning the path of violent agitation and approaching courts and tribunals for redressal of complaints.

“We welcome the decision of the PTI chief to appear before the courts for redressal of complaints and hoped this time Imran would not take U-turn on his decision,” the minister said, talking to journalists outside the parliament. “It is a positive sign that Imran has decided to appear before courts and Pakistan was a civilised country and no one is above the law,” he added.

“Imran Khan’s decision to approach the courts is a positive development,” Pervaiz said. He said that the PTI chief’s decision would now provide a chance to the government to present its point of view in an effective way to prove Imran was wrong. He said that the government could not respond befittingly to Imran Khan’s allegations on container while the court will provide the government a chance to give its response.

The minister said that the PTI chief decision to go to the Supreme Court was positive indication but accordingly the PTI should also come to the parliament which was the supreme law making institution of Pakistan. He said that it was the parliament which gave the constitution and made several laws. He added that if the PTI chief’s proposed laws would be valid and logical, these will be passed by the same parliament and all political parties would extend their support.

Pervaiz said that Imran wanted that only his allegations should be accepted without any rebuttal and if any one tries to respond to those allegations, he used un-parliamentary language against him. He regretted the language used for Privatization Commission Chairman Muhammad Zubair. He said that such allegations were also levelled against former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry by Imran Khan.

Later Imran Khan also accused journalists of compromising their conscience. He asked the PTI chairman to refrain from character assassination of others and focus on the issue-based politics. He said that the government has promoted the tolerance-based political culture in Pakistan. He said that Imran Khan is talking against the VIP culture but a person standing on his right side is a symbol of VVIP culture.

“The person is a ‘Peer’ and custodian of one of the biggest shrines and people used to touch his knees. A person standing on Imran Khan’s left side is one of the biggest businessmen of Pakistan,” the minister said. He said that this businessman had himself admitted to bear the entire expenditure of Imran’s travelling. The minister said that a person standing behind Imran Khan was the chief executive of a corporate business.
