The security dilemma is all around. Everyone among developing and developed countries is spending maximum of its budget on defence. The increasing defence budget and arms procurement has transformed the world into a security planet. Though number of agreements like NPT are in place yet there is no implementation as the law makers are the pioneer in law breaking. For example Russia and US the major rival countries despite inked the agreement of Strategic arms reduction treaty yet both are increasing their arms. Both the countries have increased their defence budget to manifolds. This rise in defence budget will be reasoned due to the plans of both states to upgrade and modernize their aging nuclear arsenals, missiles and submarines. Lately Obama’s proposed budget for fiscal 2016 amounts to $585.3 billion while nuclear budget seeks 8% more than the last financial year. The United States (US) estimated cost on nuclear weapons and related expenditures is $56 billion annually. According to a recent report of the National Defence Panel Review of the 2014 Quadrennial Defence Review, US will be spending $872 billion to $1 trillion on its nuclear programme in next 3 decades.
Same is the case with India and Pakistan both are constantly increasing their defence budget India being a bigger country than Pakistan has raised its budget to
$40 billion for financial year 2015-2016 with an increase in 7.9% boost. Same is the case with Pakistan who is increasing its defence budget every year, While the China is another country that doubles its defence budget every year. This is simply a zero sum game because the more a country increases its budget the more it becomes insecure as the rival is also increasing its budget with same ratio. This trend has put entire world at stake and it is duty of the world powers to sit together and found a solution to get rid of destructive weapons that can turn the entire world into ashes in few seconds.
