MQM is in hot waters and this is happening not for the first time but earlier MQM has been booked for Jinnahpur conspiracy. At that time MQM chief sneaked to UK and permanently got a residence there. Now once again MQM is between the devil and deep blue sea and different scenarios are emerging that included bringing Altaf Hussain back to Pakistan and try him on allegations leveled by Umair Siddiqui and Saulat Mirza, as cited by the Interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. While the second scenario is that MQM Chief Altaf Hussain would relinquish the party leadership under a deal with the army. Now the question is that whether Altaf Hussain would leave the party leadership or not?
On his fiery speeches and threats to rangers, a case has been filed against Altaf Hussain by the rangers and Interior minister has handed over the copy of FIR to British High Commissioner Philip Barton, who took it to London. ScotlandYard has already investigating murder of MQM activist Imran Farooq and for this purpose Altaf Hussain has been considered as the suspect and also he has been indicted in money laundering case. Now the question is that whether London police would take an action against Altaf Hussain or not because in UK hate speech is considered as the serious crime.
Whatever the case may be the March 11 raid by Rangers has once again brought the MQM into such a spotlight that Altaf Hussain would no more be in a position to continue his typical politics. He is left with not many options to wriggle out the situation so comfortably as a foreign national as he has been doing in the past.
Now, what are the options with the government to force the MQM do away with its alleged militancy? Many believe that the government cannot think of banning the Karachi headquartered political party as it will have adverse implications.
Some of the observers believe that best way forward to remedy the Karachi situation is that Altaf Hussain voluntarily step down and let the MQM workers choose their new leader.
Now there are only two possibilities left with Altaf Hussaain that whether he would resign the party under a deal or otherwise Pakistan Government would push UK authorities to send him behind bars.
