The Supreme Court has asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Ahmed Owais what role it can play in resolving the political crisis in the country.
The apex court heard the case pertaining to extra-constitutional steps on Monday during which Chief Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk asked if the court could give any advice to resolve the crisis.
PTI lawyer Ahmed Owais replied that he could not offer an answer to this question immediately to which Chief Justice Mulk asked if an answer could be offered in one hour.
Justice Saqib Nasir remarked that the apex court was the only forum for political justice. He said the court had received seven petitions and was aware of all issues.
Justice Nasir further remarked that the constitution and country itself was at risk and asked the PTI lawyer to seek a response from the party leadership as the bench hearing the case would continue proceedings until a solution was sought.
Justice Nisar added that developments taking place on the streets were not in line with the constitution.
The hearing of the case has been adjourned for one hour.
