SHAFAQNA – The secretary general of Iraq’s al-Nujaba Movement, a major Shia resistance group, condemned the recent terrorist attacks in the Arab country’s southern province of Dhi Qar.

On Thursday, more than 90 people, including ten Iranians, lost their lives in twin gun and car bomb attacks striking the province’s city of Nasiriyah.

One of the attacks occurred close to a restaurant near Nasiriyah, the capital city of Dhi Qar province, situated about 370 kilometers (225 miles) southeast of the capital, Baghdad, on Thursday afternoon.

Iraqi Interior Ministry spokesman, Saad Maan, also said a car bomb in the same area targeted a security checkpoint shortly afterwards.

Hours after the attack, the ISIS Takfiri terrorist group claimed responsibility for both attacks.

Sheikh Akram al-Kaabi, the secretary general of al-Nujaba, denounced the attacks and underlined that those behind the atrocities must be brought to justice.

According to the movement’s public relations office, he also stressed that such incidents only strengthen the resolve of the resistance forces to continue in their path to liberate all Iraqi territories from Takfiri terrorists.
