The evidences of IS presence in Pakistan are much clear. Through wall chalking and material distribution IS has marked its presence in a country that is hub of terrorism while in neighboring country Afghanistan it has conveyed its message very clear by killing 33 people. Though the signs of IS presence in Pakistan are very clear but authorities are on constant denial. Wall chalking, leaflets and literature i is is indicative of an IS latency even if it is not fully operational as yet. As evidenced on innumerable occasions in places where the IS has penetrated in the last year, it is rich, highly organised, well armed, trained and has the capacity not just to commit acts of terror, but crucially, to govern as well. Unlike other terrorist organizations.
Definitely Pakistan is not Iraq or Syria, yet it is vulnerable to penetrate very easily as it is quite susceptible to radicalization. With the presence of TTP and other terrorist organizations who have announced allegiance to IS can make it operational. Thus if Pakistani authorities are waiting for awakening of IS, they are committing a great mistake. It is not like TTP or other local terrorist organization that would take years to make ground for it, IS has already a prepared ground and it can kick off its terrorist activities more vehemently that TTP or any other local organization. With the huge Chinese investment in Pakistan, now the authorities would have to be more vigilant to IS threat that can hit Pakistan’s economic sites including Gawadar site to disrupt the work.
