Inspector General Police (IGP) Islamabad Aftab Ahmad Cheema has been removed from his post.
Cheema has been replaced by DIG Headquarters Khalid Khattak who has been give charge as acting IGP.
The transfer takes place at a time when the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) are holding sit-ins outside Parliament in the federal capital.
PAT chief Tahirul Qadri has alleged that Cheema was transferred as he refused to use force against protestors.
