Private Schools in Pakistan is a profitable business. These schools apparently aim to impart quality education using state of the art facilities to the students with sheer hard work, effort and determination. The reality, nonetheless is contrary. The private schools have more or less emerged as commercial or profit maximising entities. They aim to generate maximum revenue from the students’ fees neglecting the quality of education imparted to the students. It is clearly evident that the standard of education delivered at the private schools is gradually dwindling. Many renowned schools such as Lahore Grammar School, Beaconhouse School System, Aitchison School, Froebel’s, Karachi Grammar School, City School and others are currently characterised by low quality of educational services. The administrative and the managerial staff managing and running the schools lack expertise and specialised skills required for attaining the maximum performance outcomes from the students and the teachers. There is a dearth of intellectual and cognitive faculties essential for delivering top of the class quality education amongst the managerial and administrative staff of the private schools. This impedes the creation of an effective and balanced educational platform; which can prepare and nurture disciplined, mature, refined and cultivated individuals for tomorrow.
The poor quality education is attributed to many factors, first is their lack of skilled and professional teachers. Most of the teachers are hired on meager salaries without examining their qualification and teaching experience. Second most important factor is managerial staff is devoid of required skills and Third factors are students are admitted without prior entry test. The main focus of the administration is always quantity of the students rather than quality. Ministry of education and concerned boards, whom such schools are affiliated should take a serious notice of poor education standards in private schools in order to improve education standard in the country.
