Two consecutive defeats in the hands of Bangladesh show that Tigers have learnt a lot from their past experience and they have grown to the level of maturity needed for international cricket. Despite having World’s best bowling side, Bangladesh batting showed a great level of expertise and forced Pakistani pacer to think of they are bowling to world class batsmen. According to former legend Javed Miandad” Former Pakistan batting great Javed Miandad echoed Iqbal’s words and said while Bangladesh had turned a corner, Pakistan was at its “lowest point”. The 57-year-old former captain, who had a short stint with the Tigers as batting consultant in 2002, said it wouldn’t harm Pakistan if they took cue from the way Bangladesh had gradually built their side into a competitive unit. A closer look at the recent success that Bangladesh has enjoyed in international cricket shows they owe it largely to a revamped coaching staff which now boasts impressive names including two former Sri Lankans Chandika Hathurusinghe and Ruwan Kalpage besides ex-Zimbabwe skipper Heath Streak. Between the three, they have worked diligently on the techniques and psyche of the Bangladesh players to get the team on an upward curve in the past eight months which is no mean feat at all.
In stark contrast, Pakistan cricket seems to be on a declining curve. The Greenshirts, who struggled to make the World Cup quarter-finals, appeared disjointed and without any steam against a side positioned much below them in the ICC world rankings.
It is unfortunate that Pakistan neither enjoys any good side, neither bowling, nor batting and fielding. Under young Captain and voice Pakistan, Pakistan has to travel a lot to make a strong come back in the world cricket.
