Recent attack on Afghanistan claimed 133 lives show the gravity of the situation after IS accepted its involvement in the blast. It has posed immediate threat to entire region specially the Muslim countries because both Sunni and Shiite Muslims are its main target and to Sunni states the situation is gravest as the past experience shows that population of Sunni states is more vulnerable to extremist ideologies and resonate it with full vigor.
Given Pakistan’s own terrorism problem, the breakdown of formal state structure in Yemen doesn’t help our interests. The solution, of course, is not to put Pakistan’s military force on ground in Yemen. And making that point requires quiet and persuasive diplomacy, which is where we seem to be failing. This is what Pakistan needs to convey to Saudia. Definitely Pakistan cannot ignore its interests in the Middle East because alliance are not made on verbal talks but through standing with each other in thick and thin but Pakistan should convince Saudia that an unstable Yemen would be more dangerous for it than a stable neighbor. No other country can fight as a substitute to Saudi army for decades, even if Pakistan sends ground troops they cannot stay a long time there and ultimately it is Saudia who has to take care of matters. Thus an unstable Yemen would appeal IS, Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups and finally the heat of this fire would be sensed in House of Sauds.
