Though Pakistan’s interior minister is denying the reports of presence of ISIS in Pakistan yet Pakistan’s foreign office broke its silence on Monday regarding the Islamic State’s (IS) activities inside Pakistan, admitting that the radical Islamist group posed a “serious threat” to the country” Not only was the presence of ISIS members traced in Pakistan, it was allegedly a local commander that was detained by the authorities. There were two other accomplices as well, trying to recruit fighters to be thrown into the furnace of Syrian war.All three men including the supposed leader Yousaf Al Salafi were caught in Lahore. Salafi has been reported to be a Pakistani-Syrian who travelled through Turkey and landed in Pakistan five months ago. The emergence of ISIS with global aspirations opens up room for not just an alliance of these terrorist organisations but also paves the way for the former’s physical presence through assimilation of local outfits. The recent teaming up of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP’s) Shahidullah Shahid with ISIS is a step in this direction. The TTP’s declaration was preceded by news that a local group by the name of Islami Khilafat had distributed pamphlets in Peshawar that were also sent to Afghan refugee camps and to eastern Afghanistan. These pamphlets purportedly came from Kunar province in Afghanistan. The pamphlet was titled Fatah (victory) and published in Pashto and Dari. The logo of the pamphlet has the kalma (the most prominent testament of faith), the historical stamp of the Prophet (PBUH) and a Kalashnikov assault rifle. Apart from pamphlets, several slogans in favor of ISIS has been found written in number of metropolitans of Pakistan and in a recent reports Islamabad’s Sector H-9 was in the spotlight on Friday after rumours spread that some people had written slogans in support of self-styled Islamic State (IS). According to police sources, the slogans were written on the wall of an educational institution located near Excise and Taxation Office. The slogan’s on the walls of Islamabad means that threat is at doorstep and Government is in deep slumber. It should awake to this threat before its too late.
